About the SCA

Saranap is the unincorporated area of Contra Costa County south of Highway 24 between Lafayette and Walnut Creek. The Saranap Community Association, Inc., a California non-profit corporation, was founded in 1997 to preserve the established character and quality of the Saranap as a semi-rural, low-density, residential neighborhood. Membership is open to anyone residing in, doing business in, or otherwise having an interest in the community of Saranap.

The traditional role of the SCA board of directors has been to review applications for building projects submitted to us by the county Department of Conservation and Development. We’re in the process of adding two new dimensions to our work, a community-service component and services for Saranap homeowners planning home- or property-improvement projects. Our goal is to create a program of community self-help—neighbors helping neighbors to enhance the quality of life for all who live here.
