Saranap Village Tops Annual Meeting Agenda

Because it’s the most talked-about topic in the Saranap, the proposed Saranap Village development will be at the top of the agenda at the SCA’s annual meeting August 15. Representatives of Hall Equities Group, the Walnut Creek firm behind the project, will make a presentation at the meeting. They’ll give an overview of their “vision,” including modifications to the plan since it was unveiled in May, and a projected timeline for moving the project through the county approval process.

Also on the agenda will be the election of SCA board members. Four current members are up for election: Tighe O’Hanrahan, Jim Piepergerdes, Iva Schwarz, and Scott Wallace.

In addition, there are three vacancies on the board. We’re looking for community-minded SCA members to add to the ballot—neighbors who are interested in taking hands-on roles in our service initiatives, especially a new Welcome Wagon-type project, a Saranap-wide garage sale, and social activities in Saranap neighborhoods. If you’d like to explore the possibility of joining the board through your involvement in one or more of these programs, please contact SCA Service Committee Chair Stephanie Monson.

We’ll open the floor to nominations during the election. You can nominate yourself or someone you know. Please nominate someone only if you’ve spoken to the person beforehand and know that he or she is an SCA member (or will become one the night of the election) and is interested in the position, based on the criteria above. The person must be present at the meeting. Members may then write in nominees’ names on the ballot for one of the seven open positions.

This year’s annual meeting is a month later than usual because our usual venue, Grace Presbyterian Church on Tice Valley Boulevard, wasn’t available in July. Memberships that would have expired in July will be good until the annual meeting.

The August 15 meeting will begin at 7:30. Doors will open at 6:45. If you haven't renewed your membership by mail, please help us avoid long lines by arriving early and have your membership application and check filled out. Click here to download the membership application.
